Students in the field

Research

From the lab to the field, research in the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EEB) Department spans the full range of biological organization from molecules to ecosystems. We recognize three major sub-areas of research within EEB: Ecology and Global Change Biology, Evolutionary Mechanisms, and Biodiversity and Macroevolution, with much overlap and collaboration among and between research areas.

Ecology and Global Change Biology

  • Aquatic ecology and river dynamics
  • Biodiversity
  • Biogeochemical cycling in ecosystems
  • Infectious disease
  • Plant physiological ecology
  • Population dynamics and ecological genetics

Evolutionary Mechanisms

  • Behavior and behavioral genetics
  • Developmental evolution
  • Population genetics
  • Quantitative trait evolution
  • Theoretical and statistical approaches
