Biography

Dr. Smith's research focus is the comparative evolutionary biology of fishes.

Research

Dr. Smith is interested in the phylogenetics and macroevolution of fishes and systematic theory. He uses a combination of phylogenetic trees, field collections, and focused anatomical, morphometric, and genomic analyses to understand the evolution and diversification of freshwater and marine fishes.
