Join us at Free State Brewing Company for Science on Tap with Dr. A. Townsend Peterson, Curator of Ornithology at the KU Biodiversity Institute and Natural History Museum, and University Distinguished Professor in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology.

In this talk, Dr. Peterson will discuss the work of early KU naturalist Charles Bunker, who led an expedition across Kansas over a century ago to document the state’s wildlife. Today, Dr. Peterson—with colleagues from across the different divisions of the KU Biodiversity Institute—is retracing Bunker’s steps through the Bunker Resurvey Project. Over the past four years, the team has been studying how the diversity and abundance of species have changed over the last 100 years across the state.
