The list highlights 40 alumni of the MVZ who are each under 40 years of age and have made substantial contributions in their chosen career.

Dr. Katya Mack is currently an Assistant Professor with the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Department. She synthesizes population genetics, systems biology, and statistical genomics approaches to address fundamental evolutionary questions. Mack earned her PhD in Integrative Biology at UC Berkeley in 2018 and joined Dr. Nachman’s lab at the MVZ in 2013. At the MVZ Katya enjoyed being “surrounded each day by a passionate, dedicated, and supportive group of people. Experiencing that kind of energy and community is a real privilege in graduate school…I learned how to think broadly about my science and how to make connections across disciplines.” She was a National Institute of Health NRSA Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University from 2019-2023. The list highlights 40 alumni of the MVZ who are each under 40 years of age and have made substantial contributions in their chosen career. A call for nominations went out to the MVZ community and nominees were chosen by a vote of the MVZ faculty and staff.
