Katie Becklin, an EEB postdoctoral researcher in the lab of https://sites.google.com/site/joywardlab">Joy Ward, received the IRACDA Outstanding Scholar Award at this year’s National IRACDA Conference. This award was created to recognize one IRACDA fellow who has demonstrated extraordinary abilities in research, teaching, mentoring, and outreach to under-represented students. Katie has demonstrated outstanding commitment to KU’s IRACDA mission, and has gone above and beyond the program’s expectations in promoting diversity and inclusivity in science.
The IRACDA program is a NIH supported program that provides 3 years of support to fellows in various science research fields. The IRACDA program assists in the training of post-doctoral fellows in preparation for research and teaching careers in academia. The goals of the program are to enhance research skills by providing mentored research experiences while developing teaching skills through assignments that promote the advancement of under-represented minorities.
